Roberta de Castro Souza

Roberta de Castro Souza has a PhD in Production Engineering in the University of São Paulo, Brazil. In 2004, she was awarded by Brazilian Government to undertake part of her PhD studies at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, UK. She has experience as a researcher in projects for the Brazilian Development Agency, Federation of Industries of São Paulo State – FIESP, The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry, and the Brazilian National Confederation of Agriculture and Cattle Rearing. These projects focused on the strategies of agents, in the value chain, and marketing channels. She also has field research experience in Brazil and the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.

 
 

Jing Hu

Ms Jing Hu finished her Bachelor Degree in Computer Science at Southwest China Normal University, China in 2002. She was awarded the MSc degree in Information Technology for E-Commerce with Distinction in 2005 from Sussex University. Before her master degree, Ms Hu had worked with China Telecom, one of the largest telecom companies in China, for over one year. She has also worked as a research assistant in SPRU (Science and Technology Policy Research Unit) at the University of Sussex. She has also been working with Oban Multilingual Strategy Ltd specializing in international online marketing since 2005. Her research interests include, mobile technology policy primarily in Asia, influences of mobiles on society. Further interests include mobile application evolution (M-Commerce) and business information system building for E-Business.

Jeong Lee

MS Lee is currrently enrolled for a DPhil in Science and Technology Policy Research, University of Sussex. Ms Lee completed her MSc in Social and Public Communication at the London School of Economics. Her current DPhil research pertains to the implications of the as a medium for public deliberation in risk policy-making. Her academic and professional background is communication. Her interests revolve around the relationship between communication technology and society, mainly, the role of communication technology in decision- making process, risk communication and public engagement in policy making.

Shruti RAJAN

Having finished her Bachelor of Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology, India, with a First Class in 2003, Miss Rajan worked as a journalist in India for two years. She did reportage on topics such as education, environment, science and technology with the international wire service Indo-Asian News Service and went on to become a sub-editor with India's largest-selling financial daily, The Economic Times. In 2005, she was awarded two scholarships for her Masters in the UK. She passed out of Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex, with a Distinction in her Masters in 2006. Her work on Indian IT has been been cited in a book to be released in 2007 by the EU-sponsored project: 'ESTO Asia Growth project: ICT for Growth and Cohesion in a Global KBE' and has been working as a part-time researcher for SPRU and Aykey Net. Her research interests include information and communication technology policies in Asia and mobile government.

Sarah Salamoun

Ms Salamoun finished her bachelor’s degree at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, graduating in Political Science (2006). She is currently a Master’s student at the University of Sussex where she is pursuing her degree in Global Political Economy. Ms Salamoun has worked for several non-governmental and non-profit organizations dealing principally with international development. As a student of globalization issues, her interests are mobile technologies and their impacts on society, mainly with a focus on technological development as a process of democratization and welfare. Her areas of interests also include, policy making, political and communication strategies.
